Raga:Ragamalika
Tala:Adi
composer: Purandara Dasa
Language: kannada
Choreography: Bragha Besell

An annoyed woman, a gopika, confides her opinion of 'the small kid' Krishna to her friends.

Is he a kid? he keeps slipping out of everyone's hands.

He asks me details of child birth! A small kid, yeah right!

I went to fetch water one day, and there he was when nobody was around! He blocked my way and asks me to be with him!!! A kid? You kid me.

I was churning buttermilk the other day and he comes closes my eyes up. He asked for butter and i denied it. He got hold of my breasts and started dallying with me! A small kid, he is not!

With drowsy eyes the other night and my dumb dumb wit, i mistook him for my husband. When i opened my eyes, he held my hand and started bragging that he was the Lord Purandara Vittala.

Is he really a small kid. Maybe he is just someone none of the mortals can get.

Is he a little child? None of us can get him.

  • Very nice abhinaya. I have also learnt this same padam. I really liked your body language as well.

  • @rasanika Hi Rasanika. Thanks. Where and whom did you learn it from?

  • I saw Krishna running all over the stage and like your reactions for the versus/lyrics. excellent dance. Correcting your footing especially when camera is at them too does not do any just to your talent, as it will not be noticed by the audiance - but we only see what is seen by the camera. Good work

  • @ch4ndr4n "Correcting your footing especially when camera is at them too does not do any just to your talent, as it will not be noticed by the audiance - but we only see what is seen by the camera" -- I am not sure i follow what you mean.

  • I learnt it form Bragha akka. It was quite some time back.

  • Apologies, “correcting your footing” comment does not belongs here! It was in one of the other dances of yours. I watched this dance again and it is perfect. Definitely saw the readjustment to establish the balance at the same time as the camera was focusing at your feet, but not sure which clip it was in but remember me saying “that was unfortunate”. Anyway, that was nit picking and don’t let that worry you. You are a great artist and Choreographer with dedication to our culture.
