like Juliusyeung0330 said "best strategy to win a war. dont start a war!" (caps taken off) its less resourses, and more productive going with the grain, than against it. but sometimes then again, conflict happens, thats a real fact too.

in the original chinese, the context was written in warfare, however the system laid out, works for any competitive context, like how labroratories are the birthplace of more practical and common sciences; so is war the frame for all competition. but even without the nastyness of war, it teaches the science behind making the best decisions, infact Master Sun, said that the best decisions usually avoided conflict, because it was destructive, and wasteful of resources, going against ppl.

SOAD?
hmmm...well that is ONE way to see it. However the pupose of the ART OF WAR is to understand the tactics & pupose of WAR.
It's allows the reader to difuse the problems of war or to divise tactics in warfare. In order to achieve PEACE does it not help to understand WAR? How can one hopeto end wars if one knows nothing about the art of war. There are only two ways of attacking but infinite ways of defending.

@Wolfsbane909 It's more a stab at the advancement and absurdity of the concept of war itself, rather than at Sun Tzu. He wasn't wrong in writing a book about something that no doubt exists (war), but nowadays, I don't see why if we all looked and tried a little harder, why war has to exist, at all. Times have changed, and this is our time to make into with it what we truly want.
Thanks for your response, though. =] I appreciate the perspective.
