Ok sweet thanks! I have the exact same problem going on right now. I was thinking about just putting in a bypass pulley. But the bearing would be cheaper.

did you ever get this figured out?

take off the clutch plate at the front, center - one nut. It comes right off and you may see the condition of the clutch face. Probably very rusty. Clean it off with sand paper. That may cure the noise. In order to check the bearing on the pulley you have to loosen the serpentine belt (arghh) and spin the pulley feeling for loseness or grit. If so bearing can be replaced, not easy, and it means removing the compressor to get at it. You can get a good used compressor on Ebay!

Yes it was the bearing on the pulley. I pulled the entire clutch assembly off and replaced it and it is still working fine.
