this song isnt about your thoughts on "god", if you ever heard of Maynard's life, its no wonder he has no faith, so i dont see how this turns into "your" argument

@RabidKyuubi lol i know

...the heck does 'the biggest pimple in the world' have to do with APC?

@StOnion also just mention that people like you are actually insulting others for their own beliefs are obviously not aware of the fact that you can't just change everyone's state of mind. We are all entitled to our own opinions. I'm not getting into this again because you obviously can't be aware of this.
-
@StOnion faith is not dangerous. Don't be stupid. It's the extremists of religions that have caused them to be under attack from opinions such as yours. It's a common misconception between religion and faith. They are different. There have also been a lot of atrocities committed by scientific ideals, so don't you dare start calling people stupid just because they have faith. It's my own choice to choose what I believe in, and you need to understand that everyone has different opinions.
-
@ddrumdude No, it does NOT. This is a FATAL mistake to make. The atrocities and horrors committed against morality by "faith" are far too numerous to consider it a source of good for humanity. I don't care what you are, your line of thought is just as dangerous. We simply CANNOT afford to be apologetic to such vile ideas. You really need to look into some creationist vs. secularist debates if you still think this way. The crime of enslaved thought is a gigantic problem we must deal with.
-
@StOnion Yes we should always challenge what we already have, but dealing with problems with faith improves our mental state of well-being in many ways. You should realise that some people have different opinions than you when regarding what is best for themselves. I'm not a christian, but in the end it doesn't matter because it still gives people comfort to overcome such tough situations. We have so many problems here on earth that we should be dealing with those first.
-
@ddrumdude Stars acting as cosmic furnaces for organic matter is proven. Since when is comfort constructive? I'd argue the opposite, in fact. Being unsatisfied with our state of being is the very foundation of inquiry and innovation. Believing in something for the sake of it comforting you, and not questioning those beliefs has indeed been proven to be extremely dangerous to us, upon which I can give a multitude of examples. How do you know we will never know? We thought the earth was flat.
-
@StOnion it's your own opinion whether it's a weakness. As I said, it brings a lot of people comfort, so it is actually constructive. Nothing you said can be proven as a fact. It may be possible, but it's not a fact. How we are here is not really important, because we don't really have any control over it, and it is something we will most probably never know.
-
@ddrumdude that is weakness. you should be able to take reality for what it is instead of fooling yourself and others. I take comfort in the fact that the matters that encompasses me was once inside of a star, and that we are eternal not through our souls but our material being. Consciousness is a gift from the universe, just feel blessed to be able to experience things with your eyes open for this brief time.
Manyard could sing a cookbook and it would rock ^^

For those who do not know, I'm stating the obvious here for those who are hardcore tool/apc fans, but here goes:
This song is directly speaking to his mother. His mother was paralyzed for 10,000ish days (26 years?) by an aneurysm in her brain. She was SUPER religious, even up to her death, and this is him professing his contempt of those beliefs, and pointing out the immense hypocrisy. She was a TREMENDOUSLY nice and great person, never sinned, but still had the worst luck ever. Some savior.
