We drove 211 + 20 miles only to get there and not be allowed in the park due to a fire that had jumped the road. We drove 20 miles down into town and had a lunch - then 2 1/2 hours later drove 25 miles up after calling the park and they told us the fire was out - However the border patrol assigned to the park entrance would not allow us in despite the fact that we told him our friends were in there and we had the food.

The border patrol would NOT budge.

I don't want to hear any lip. I was up until 2am after a full week of school and an incredible amount of math, bio and spanish work. I also stayed up baking dozens of cookies and bread. Don't tell us we should have driven around and found an alternate way in - that entire area is vineyards and cattle ranches meaning that would be trespassing to use their roads. Don't tell us we should have conned the border patrol - they are intolerant. We drove about 472 miles round trip for NOTHING. Also at the top 10 miles closest to the park is a deadzone with absolutely no cell phone coverage...and the border patrol refused to radio the park ranger.

The end.
