@PrisonerNumber9653 If the coorelation were more guns present = more accidents, then explain to me why every time I go to a range I never see any accidents? It is a logical fallacy. More innocent people, even people who are just walking, die because of cars. A gun is just like a car in that it can do nothing without human stimuli. There is a term for the fear of guns, it is hoplophobia, and that characterises majority of anti gun peoples.

@CitrusLizard You've seen more injured on bikes because there aren't guns all over, you've seen MINOR injuries for the most part, and there is an actual purpose for having bicycles on campus...which means fewer cars, which means GREATER safety.
That more people die from cars in NO WAY excuses preventable deaths. People dying from car crashes caused by other factors doesn't mean we don't encourage seat belt use, for instance, which saves countless lives.

@PrisonerNumber9653 I've seen more people injured by bicycles on my campus than any weapon. More people die every year in cars than by guns, and yet the "safety" aspect on campuse bans neither. It is a logical fallacy to suggest that because someone has injured themselves with a gun that all guns will injure anyone near them. I had a roomate slit his finger open, and yet no one was calling for the ban of knives.

@CitrusLizard it's not "somehow" dangerous, it's absolutely dangerous. This is about ensuring safety, and keeping our campuses from being full of weapons is a vital part of the safety of the students and everyone else on that campus.
It's worth noting that those who are in the military CHOOSE to join, are given tremendous amounts of training, and STILL have deaths related to accidents and other gun violence. The last place we should want to be like that is a college campus.

@PrisonerNumber9653 These "teenagers" you mention are also citizens. The government still retains the right to send all males citizens off to war if they deem it necessary, they don't give a damned if they're "teenagers" or not. The point is the government would entrust "teenagers" with full auto weapons if it meant ensuring the government's agenda was accomplished, but when it comes to ensuring one's own safety that ability is somehow dangerous.
-
@CitrusLizard You do not have a "right" to carry a gun wherever you go, which will lead to MORE shootings. I don't know where you campus is, or the immediate causes of the crime you're dealing with, but sending a bunch of teenagers around packing heat is NOT going to solve the problem, just make it far, far worse.
-
@PrisonerNumber9653 Unsafe huh? Why? What did they tell you to say when someone asks for the reason? On my campus, we've had four armed robberies, one resulted in the victim being pistol whipped. I can think of no greater horror than trying to hide under a small little desk and try to stop breathing because someone is blowing your fellow student's heads off. We are human beings, not cattle and we have a right to try and protect ourselves.

You obviously lied about your purposes or twisted the Brady rep's statement. People from Brady debate anti-gun safety people all the time.
We had this sick argument on our campus, and there was a mountain of proof provided that hidden handguns would make the campus much more unsafe. Hidden handguns wouldn't prevent the extremely rare incident like VA Tech, it would increase gun violence. Our campus police sharply opposed hidden handguns, which make them less safe, too.

@SRGTHALO i hope you're being sarcastic.

if they do this they need individual gun safes for people living in a dorm. thats the main way they would get stolen by being left unsecured.
The most dangerous weapon is the uneducated man.

If the state trusts you to carry everywhere else; then why restrict you from carrying on campus?
