***WATCH IN HD!***

This may be the first video of the MBTA MP36PH-3C on home rails!

MBTA's new MP36PH-3C #010 is heading east on track 2 through Worcester Union Station.

The train had a GP40MC #1130, 5 coaches, and the 010 on the west end. Both engines were MU-ed and providing tractive effort to the train although the GP40 was the one providing head-end power.

It is headed towards South Station, and it will go down to Readville afterwards.

*****The guy crossing the tracks near the end was a member of the crew. He was dropped off there (which is why the train stopped. Look closely, you can see a pair of feet drop down from the engine) and was NOT trespassing. Trespassing is NOT OK and is ILLEGAL!*****

  • what's wrong with the EMD 710?

  • @GordonFreemanD40 Nothing.

  • I think the horns are electronic too not sure if theyre under the nose part like the acela express units....

  • @mbcr1057 Nope. They haven't invented an electronic horn loud enough to meet the minimum decibel levels outlined by the FRA. The horn is on the roof

The Acela express also has a normal horn. I don't remember where it is mounted though.

  • Awesome catch dude

  • That is a cool looking engine - it (or it's relative) spends a good amount of time in the Rockport station -

  • @diburning saw that one yesterday at malden on the haverhill line

  • @wileyk209zback Yes and no. The F40PHs have the older version of the K5LA which was cast differently than the ones being cast today. They sound slightly different.

  • @diburning So apparently those new MBTA locomotives have the same horns as the F40PHs do.

  • @timosha21 Yeah, there's a sticker on the plow. I'm not sure how it got there, but it's been there since it left Boise, Idaho
