Alquin was a Dutch progressive band from the 70s.
They were originally called "Threshold Fear" and they released a single under that name in 1971.

After that they changed their name to Alquin and released their first album in 1972, Marks.

This song is from their second album, Mountain Queen, released in 1973.

After Mountain Queen they went on a more straight forward Rock sound tour, and teamed up with Black Sabbath producer Rodger Bain for their album Nobody Can Wait Forever.

  • Alquin live on stage Utopia-Elsloo on 17.08.1973

  • Discovered Alquin via 'Whispering' Bob Harris on the Old Grey Whistle Test. A great band, a great song.

What I remember about the Golden Earring set was everything was too loud exept the vocals, which could hardly be heard at all, awful stuff.

  • @artscoff

Worse than that I can see myself sinking in my seat fingers over my ears, Golden Earring's sound was terrible, ear shattering!!! I did the same, bought the album as quickly as possible. I see below they still exist. I'd see them again happily.

While I think of it I'd like to see Focus live. I never did in their heyday. Moving Waves was a beautiful album, Eruption is so evocative of certain 'moments' in my late teens. Nuff said.

  • @Waterlow56

I also saw them, 73 I think, birmingham town hall, after they finished I thought Golden Earring can,t follow that, and I was right, bought this album the day after and it stlll gets played today.

  • Hey! They STILL exist!

  • Excellent Alquin; Only You tube can make people happy with these oldies.

  • nostalgie!! herinneringen aan optredens in Heerlen eeuwen geleden!!

  • I also saw them in the early 70s, at Friers in Aylesbuy, one of the best live acts I have ever seen! Mountain Queen was purchaced within days, and I am still playing it (now in cd form) at least every week. Alquin have enhanced my life!
