although you will get away with playing it as you have done.. for optimum sound you need to barre the 2nd fret from the 5th string (A)..

I had the same problem. Most likely problem is you haven't been playing long and your fingers aren't used to being in a tight space. In time they'll become more nimble, just practice other chords for now and stretch your fingers from time to time.

there has to be an easier way to play that note..its so difficult for me cuz my fingers dont stretch that far apart.

thanks, i can be a real idiot sometimes but that cleared it up for me!
If you can have your thumb on the back of the neck and finger one secured on string 1 fret 2, you can stretch them on and off. Also, I try to put fingers 2, 3, and 4 down and push them around in-between the 1st and 2nd fret until they settle into the position.
