Christ man, ma dad and ma grandad used to sing this song at parties when I was a wee boy. Total memories here, nearly had me greetin'. Beautiful :)

While "placing" the songs emotional content exactly, McCormack also enunciates so clearly that every word is heard. - John Austin, Australia

Please, lads, anywhere to download his songs???

We dubbed this track on the opening of the video of my parent's golden anniversary party
that lasted until 6 a.m.

'Tenor with orchestra' seems so inadequate for such a wonderful piece of singing.

I am certain that I have a Cd with McCormack singing Galway Bay. Anyone esle there heard this recording?

I wish I could, but he never recorded it!

"Straining at a gnat"? Well, possibly true. I DID have a Flit! highball the night I made my posting-5 months ago-followed with an Off! shot as the chaser(with a small tipple of Deet). Aside from my odious fascination with entomology, you do have some really good selections posted. Cheers!

@dennman6 Aren't you straining at a gnat? Seriously, you listen to an eighty-five recording and unless you have a dead-stock copy, it's not going to get much better than this. Besides that, with all your stylus gibberish, the New York Victor studio sides have a more constricted sound to them, and nothing can combat that!

This is such a beautiful song, and to listen to it sung by John McCormack is quite enchanting.
Thank you for posting.

I just want you to know that I am 70 years old, and that some of the people leaving comments seem so, so young. John McCormack is well dead. He sang a song many years ago called The Old County Down. It is from Northern Ireland. Are you Irish? I loved this, and now I am going to listen to The Rose Of Tralee. Thanks for everying. Anne
