  • it doesnt work all the time, if the defender knows how to play you, expeciall if it's a street game where no ref will call those little body bumbs you could get block. If you play against a taller player, or one slightly taller with athletic ability, your best chance is to surprise him with a fast post catch hook shot, or slighty jump away form the basketball hook shot. But if you're slow it will not work.

  • i use that move all the time

  • pivoting is one of the most important aspects of ball and it's especially true in the post. Always use your inside foot when going into the baby hook. Counter's are also key; IF you haven't used your dribble, give a good baby hook head fake, then bump the defender and step back for a short J. If your dribbles alive give that same head fake but spin back toward the baseline and look for an easy reverse lay up or a dime to a cutting defender because they'll have to help out or you'll have a hoop.

  • a good way to make sure to get the shot off is to dribble baseline, then quickly spin middle..stay low and draw contact with the opponent; if he is taller than you, you will bump lower than his waist which will make it almost impossible for him to jump, then you judge whether to go straight up with the shot or fade a little

  • yea when i do it quickly i have problems with the ball slipping out as i explode up for the shot. it always comes out with like a sidespin and then goes off the iron.

  • it has to be finesse

  • if your gonna do this, you gotta be quick.

you can't stall and wait or the defender will be ready for the block. if the dude is like many inches shorter than you though, you can take as much as you want unless if he has amazing hops lol.

  • unless you have someone who is 6 to 12 inches taller than you if you do this move correctly and keep your body far enough between your defender and the ball this move should work everytime

  • um... what BlackBerry1010 said

  • cool

  • Yea, blackberry you have a good point. But if you do have an agile defender on you; backing down is very usefull so that you can establish good post position and get a jump hook of. If you have good position you can lean in to your shot to back the defender off or draw a foul o. Also anyone who does post up should have more then just a jump hook in their arsenal to keep defender's guessing. I'm a gaurd so I love posting up because most of my defender's don't know how to gaurd it.
