i know that there is an audio swap option. i may use it, but obviously it isn't quite the same.

I have had this happen to me enough times that I just give up on using anyone elses music. It is what it is I guess.

there are certainly plenty of songs that are public domain or creative commons or whathaveyou, but those rarely include specific songs that we all know, love, and are affected by.

If they wrote the songs, they own part the copyright. The owner of the publishing and the writer of the music split the royalties.

i really think most musical artist's arrangements with their record labels include handing over the actual copyright to the corp. of course the contract that facilitates this transfer also usually involve royalty agreements, performance and usage permissions, as well as limitations like exclusivity with the label.

of course these contracts vary widely, and i would guess the best ones involve labels started by artists, and/or skilled lawyers.

hahah, I've noticed as well that its us little guys getting slapped with the infringement. You can go to ANYONE's videos and have at least one instance of infringement, but hey.....just another step in culling the herd, eh?
