@carmncool It's probably because they can't rock out as hard as they want to. I've noticed that too with some late night tv shows

Sam Beam because he is a musician who has all the available tools he wishes to have at his disposal and is clearly enjoying using them to develop his music. Personally I have positively embraced the way his music has evolved across all 4 albums. Keep doing it I say if it's done well then it's worth listing too.
Ok, has anyone noticed how the rhythm guitarist looks just like David Letterman?

People need to understand that there is no definitive Iron And WIne sound. Sam Beam does whatever the flying fuck Sam Beam wants to do, and that shows in his music. He started out with a mellow folky- sound and transferred that into Our Endless Numbered Days, which I find to be his best album. Then He Moved over to the Indie/rock sound with Shepherds dog and now he's getting psychadelic on us with kiss each other clean. I&W's sound changes everytime Sam wants it to. This performance is proof.
