BEHIND THE SONG: UNCHARTED TERRITORY
When I started writing for my new project I was afraid to dig down inside and write about how I really felt. It seemed too dangerous and yet I decided I had to take that risk. I tried writing the words that I was afraid to share with anyone... "I find myself in uncharted territory. Never felt so lost, never felt so lonely. Where are you Lord?"
Verse two starts with this question: "How can I sing when my heart is broken...when every prayer is just a token...where are You Lord?"
I was afraid of what people would say if I included these lyrics in one of my songs. But the more I wrote, the more I felt I was writing something for everyone who had walked, or is walking through uncharted territory and is trying to find a way to sing the Lord's song in a foreign land (Psalm 137). Thus, it became the title track. [DON MOEN]
