DNREC Secretary Collin OMara and staff from the SEUs Energize Delaware joined middle-schoolers at St. Thomas More Preparatory School in Magnolia to promote solar energy and new technologies. The event is in its 16th year and is sponsored by DNREC. Teams from all over Delaware demonstrated their math and science skills in this fun, educational event. The Solar Sprint features teams of students working together to build solar cars to compete in race and design categories. The program is designed to generate enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, boost students' understanding of scientific concepts and renewable energy technologies; and encourage young people to consider technical careers at an early age.
