  • nice shot!

  • Nice - I looked at some planes last night, and it was amazing - I could see the types, and read the tails, as well as seeing the individual windows - truly great!

  • if you living by the Airport its not that great

  • Those kind of close up shots are hard to get. I was looking at one early yesterday. It had 4 contrails behind it but for some reason I could not see the plane itself. I should have been able to see it. Heck I've seen smaller planes farther away than this one but I couldn't see it.

  • Hi there,

Can you tell me what the magnification was?

Also, what telescope, barlow, reducer, eyepiece, camera?

I need the info so that I can decide on what telescope to get.

    Thanks

  • how come it has no markings?

  • And you can roughly estimate the speed of a plane, when you both hear and see it, without knowing its altitude.

  • @King007Bond

A jet crusing at 35,000 feet can easily be heard. 7 miles isn't that far. Also, contrails form no lower than about 25,000 feet.

  • Looks a lot like an Airbus, don't know which moedl though.

  • Commercial jets generally fly between 36000 feet and 50 000 feet which translates into between ~10 km and ~15km. If that plane is at altitude, which it probably is given the contrail...its at least 10km away...and you can hear planes at 10km.

  • I am giving you five stars, but it would be even better, if there would have been more video than just 5 seconds.
