  • @fantablum the amazing screenplay was by james kennaway, i think he was a really underrated writer. I personally love 'a country dance' even more than this and this and i would give this the 5 stars.

  • Great film - and sooo far ahead of its time

  • When ever those Bag Pipes start blasting my ole Ticker starts thumping like a tilted washing machine on the spin cycle !

    It must be the Scottish blood in my body rushing around.

  • I guess it's just a different era of film making. If you look at the movie closely it's as if it was made as a play. You can act out the entire movie scene by scene on a stage and you still wouldn't miss any of the movie's essence. In a way that's exactly how the book was written too. Guess that's what common between the book and the movie.

  • If you think the movie is good the book is equally compelling.
