Darrell Abbot was a beast. To run parallels of heavy music's evolution to US political history, he was heavy metal's Kennedy. He pushed the envelope in tone, harmony, and aggression at a time when everyone was looking at the floor. His distorted spell of past and present, always an eye on technology, had a profound affect on a generation of guitar players. The 60's had Hendrix, the 70's Blackmore and then Van Halen, 80's had Hetfield (boohoo- he changed the game with his picking) 90's had Dime.

I never knew Terry played guitar...

@racerx30 yeah, they were around a little longer. used to be glam metal but then became more hardcore/thrash, especially with CFH.

@racerx30 pantera actually started out as a glam "metal" band with dimebag and vinnie, it wasn't until around 1990 when they became heavier and got phil in as vocals. they had an album called Power Metal which was basically the transition, then was all heavy from Comboys from Hell and on.

i used to watch them play at the woodstock club in killeen, tx. back in 1984 1985. they were in my opinion better than what they became later.
