  • I got this amp with a 2 x 10 custom cab, and it's taken the time to getting used to, but once you do, boy oh boy!... Probably the most controllable and portable 500W rig out there. I tried and toured Ashdown and Ampeg, and re Ashdown, to me they all sound the same, only louder depending on the Output Wattage. Ampeg is great, but only in a couple of sounds but they are HEAVY!!! My roadies still recover from the fridge carrying sessions on the Rockpalast gigs. I love T C Electronics gear.

  • @eckie4679 ....ive never ever tried any Ampeq gear..but i hear that its the creme de la creme of bass amps. Man o man that ampeq gear is super expensive. But i guess with Ampeq you get what you pay for. I've heard that the only thing that comes close to ampeqs top spec all tube head with the 8x10 cab is Ashdowns new 427 small block all tube head with the 8x10 cab. They say it sounds every bit as good as the ampeq. But im just not an all tube player..and i dont need all that power...

  • @eckie4679..actually you have an interesting point with regard to the mag evo head because ive seen quite a lot of people running ashdown cabs with markbass heads..and guess what, they swear by this combination. Their must be a reason a lot of people are doing this. But to be fair..im pretty sure the mag evo gear is ashdown's middle of the road stuff. The abm evo gear is the higher spec gear. BUT BUT BUT..dont know if it is really that much better than the mag gear? Hmm dont know...

  • @delitemyheart I often play gigs at a venue that has a house backliine comprisiing Ashdown Mag head and 4X10 Cab. I'm seriously impressed with the cab but less so with the head. Perhaps the EVOs are higher spec? Anyway, interesting comment on the Class D Amps. One of the heads I'm thinking about is the Ampeg PF350 or 500. Very simple and very light. Have you tried any Ampeg Class D stuff ?

  • @eckie4679 I think its just digital amps in general..they all seem to sound too sterile for me..with Genz Benz sounding the most sterile. But if i wanted a digital amp..i think the TC would be the number 1 choice though..they have to be the best digital sounding amps out there for sure.

Have you ever plugged into an Ashdown ABM Evo 2 or 3??? Man o Man..what a great Amp. I recently had a go of an ABM Evo 2 combo with the 2X10 & it was unbelievable. Seriously!

  • @kasthebass

I tried an RH450 recently and agree with you - the tone is a little cold and sterile. I'm used to a Gallien Krueger tone that's nice and warm by comparison

  • Hey... I know him, I KNOW him! Bad ass Ben

  • Nice stuff but i still dont like the TC tone. I dont know how to describe it , if i test it with and markbass i choose the markbass..

Just a matter of taste i guess

  • I need one!

  • Hiya,

Thanks heaps for posting this - great stuff!

    Best Wishes,

    Joey @ TC
