  • Nice to find your tribute to Harry. He was my idol and his spirit still lives within!

  • Thank you. Very touching tribute.

  • Back in the 70s everyone drove with their knees,

Because we had too, when we were twisting one up 

  • Harry definitely had an effect on my life. I was introduced to his music by my sister. Three songs always come to my mind when thinking of Harry: "Cats in the cradle" is so every day true, "Six string orchestra" tells all about me as a guitarist and most importantly "Better place to be" tells all about humanity. Some decades earlier another great man, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, had said. "You can only see well with your heart. The essential is invisible to eyes."

Harry was a real life hero!

  • Anyone who ever drove...or saw Harry drive knows he use to speed and at times if he got that great song he would have to write it down...right away. I never did see him do this but their were stories from those who drove with him.....and never would again!!

    RIP Harry...we love you!

  • WOW....this is great. I too hung out with Harry at a concert back in the 70's at Music Hall in Cincinnati. What a true gentlemen he was. I remember hearing the news of his death and I sat on the bed and cried like a baby. He touched my life in so many ways and still does to this day. I'm forever grateful to my friend Joe for introducing me to the Harry's music.

  • Summer, Circa 1980.....Okemo Mt , Vermont. Harry Chapin concert on the side of the mountain.....20K people.....Hung out with Harry after the concert while he signed autographs and kissed all the gals.....I sat on a fence beside him, with my arm leaning on his shoulder half the time. Not a Cop in sight, no security, just Harry and his extremely devoted and loyal fans......If you could bottle Harry's energy---you could light up a City.

    He was Da Man....

  • The song is excellent but I have one question.... was he really stearing the car with his knees when he had the crash? I never heard that before.... where was that info written?

  • I Love The Song

    very well done

  • yes
