@robertlphelps Its just for the flush mount ones that go behind. As you said for trawling or simply storing your rods whilst paddling. That way they're not going to be in your way. You will also use an adjustable mount in front of you for the rod in use.
pop bolts (ribbets) tend to get loose over time, i suggest stainless steel screws (naval screws) that can get tighten if it's needed... try to make the holes as tight as posible and use sealant too...
Can someone explain why almost all the kayak rod holders are mounted BEHIND the angler? I would think you'd want it mounted in front of you, not angling away from your back? The only thing I could think of is that it would allow you to sort of troll your bait. Any clarification? Thanks. Nice vid.
how watertight would that be would much water get through if it wasnt and would it be better off putting some waterproff silicon rould the edge just in case cheers

Great vid...but I would use a hole saw instead of a roto tool and get a perfect circle. Fits right on your drill!
