The Korean delicacy of Kimchi -- a spicy cabbage dish -- is about to be launched into space for the benefit of astronaut Yi So-yeon. A just-developed freeze-dried version will ride along with her.

  • @bobleeleebob For 9 days yes, but this research isn't for that 9 day trip. It's also for future consumption as well as export, military, survival and other applications. And isn't it good to have a choice?

  • wonder how many wons or dollars to spend time to research, study, and work on this project....

just for kimchi for 9 days in space.....

    money wasted you say?

    i think so !

  • I love kimchi too, I put it on pizza, hot dogs, corned beef, etc. YUM!

  • I like kimchi also. However I think irradiating it would kill the beneficial organisms and nutrients. And I think storing it in glass is far preferable to plastic. Only my opinion from what I have heard and read.

  • The fact that a Korean or anybody cant survive for 9 days without KimChi is just ridiculous. However, from a Cultural viewpoint to have Kim Chi in space is well worth the science research to keep up this space age tradition which will have relevance to other areas of science , food and technology too.

  • Even freeze-dried, that kimchi looks very delicious! :)

  • l like kimchi becausa l from korea

나는 좋아한다. 김치를 왜냐하면 나는 한국 사람이기 떄문이다.
