It was December, 1980; Ronald Reagan had just been elected President, Saturday Nite Live was soon to have its worst year of its history, and ABC struck back with a late-night comedy ensemble group of its own "Fridays." With a talented group that included Michael Richards and Larry David, this evenings' show opened with a 16 minute blockbuster sketch.

  • I actually watched this when it first aired. The end of the show the guy who played Ronnie apologized to his dad for wearing stockings or something like that.

I have waited with anticipation for them to release Fridays to DVD but now that I watch it I can't believe how bad it was. Of course some of the scetches were great like Drugs R Us and Transphibians but most are just not written well. And the only actors that acheived a higher fame really shine like Michael Richards and Mark Blankfield

  • @kpreston69 : this episode was never repeated, due to the legal complaint filed against it by the owners of The Rocky Horror Picture Show; do doubtful you will ever see it on DVD...

dehypnotist: I loved this show when it first aired and, guess what, it still works (particularly after Bush I and Bush II)

  • Incredible. And 30 years later if the current cast of SNL attempted a 16 minute sketch their cookie cutter heads would implode without their teleprompter and cue-card system. And allythin... Fox news wanted me to tell you your check is in the mail...

  • This is so poorly written. Not a trace of wit or humor. Just didactic drivel set to the RHPS's music.

  • Incredible. The costumes were spot on and the political satire is at its best here. It's really very relevant today.

  • Wow. It is still so relevant it is unbelievable.
