  • hey i gotta question, i have been playing for a while now, like 8 years, and i know this is gonna sound lame but i dont know the notes of the fret board, like ik them but i have to think about them. ik theory but its hard to apply it when i dont know what notes im playing. is there a good way to learn my fretboard or should i just keep working at it. ik it i just have to think an di wanna get it to the point were i dont have to think.

  • @TheWho0180 - hi - learning the fretboard is important and you want to knock it out a little at a time - just chip away at it - we have some killer lessons on our instructional website to help you with this and there is a free 3 day all access pass on the home page at next level guitar dot com - check it out in the master classes-intermediate lead-overall lead - ENJOY and rock on!

  • Awesome warmup! What guitar you playing, bro?

  • @TheWho0180

I'd recommend that you choose a couple of notes that you want to learn first, and then just learn them. Take C for an example... you want to know where all the C:s are, so take some time and focus only on C. After a while, you switch to, let's say Bb. And do that with maybe 4 notes, and then add more notes. I'm not a teacher, but this is what one of my teachers told me, and I've learnt a lot since. Don't forget to practise scales too, that'll help you as well.

  • isn't better to play Dm7 with the thumb?

  • that's far away from being jazz
