Cover Girl Culture
A film by Nicole Clark
In this eye-opening documentary, filmmaker Nicole Clark, a former Elite International fashion model, gets in the face of advertisers and fashion industry leaders and calls for integrity and responsible media for our youth. An important examination of how advertising and the cult of celebrity have deeply and negatively impacted teens and young women, COVER GIRL CULTURE pairs television and print ads with footage from the catwalks and juxtaposes shocking interviews with models and editors from top fashion magazines with revealing insights from parents, teachers, psychologists, and the heartfelt testimonies of girls themselves.

  • this video truly inspiring and should be known worldwide and on an internationally bases. every mother, father, adult, and young teenagers must see this! it gives out an important message out to the world.

  • @smrndoff I think you actually are missing the whole point of this, it is not about whining, it is about how the media manipulates masses of people all over the world! It is a big problem in America, but you certainly don't have to be rich to go through this. Lack of money makes this psychology worse, attending public schools is a great example of this, girls who don't meet up to societies standards are left feeling like outcasts it is not a young girls choice not to fit in.

  • This is overdue...Young girls as young as 6-7 talking about dieting, looking sexy...Boys are confused as well. Our external oriented, consumer culture is ruthless...As long as there is money to be made, they will push anything...Epidemic eating disorders...plastic surgery for children...This is insane

  • Our pornified society is only going to get worse unless we do something about it. This video is great. Thanks for addressing this very real issue and harm to so many individuals. We're destroying our children because they think they need to fit this mold. We will share this documentary.

  • Just a thought, but what about boys, and young men, who feel forced to conform to a stereotype?

They must be six feet tall, have broad shoulders, six-pack abs, rock-hard pecs, heavily muscled arms and legs, square jaw, and so on?

And while girls get anorexic trying to achieve an impossible ideal, how many boys get caught-up using steroids, attempting the same thing?

    Is there really any difference?

  • I think the reason why so many girls still buy into this crap is because they grow up with it and come across it on a daily basis. It is considered normal for girls to read fashion magazines, care about their appearance, love shopping and wear makeup. One is confronted with this norm from all sides of life, one's family, the media, school etc. If a girl does not act like this, she is immediately considered abnormal, which is not what most girls want to be. Personally, I'd rather be different...

  • @smrndoff it's not that simple. I'm from nigeria so i get the starvation issue but things are NEVER that simple. You should educate yourself more on the issue before making such unfortunate statements.

  • OMG I know christina the!

  • I do get tired with rich western women complaining that they are being forced to be thin. If you don't like it, don't buy the magazines. It sure as hell isn't men who find skinny titless bandy legged freaks with stringy necks attractive.

So blame yourselves and shut up. There are real women really going hungry in this world whist spoiled vain witches like these complain about starving themselves out of peurile childish anal vanity.

  • Those interested in this topic / film (Very important and well done! Thank you!) -- may be interested in this recent article... that asks some important questions ... go to ImageTrinity [dot] com and look down on the right bar for an article entitled "The 'Cover Girl Controversy'"...

  • This video is truly amazing, bravo
