Also remember one of the cameras used to compile this footage was a much older model - not a Contour, but a Samsung SportsCamCorder, no longer available - that was running on completely different and lower settings. You can definitely tell when the vid switches to that camera view. It can be jarring, but it is what it is.

Awesome vid! I like that the team stays together!

This is one of the best Irene footage i have seen. Very well done.

Which brings me to the real question I had for the video creator. I have a contour gps and I'm wondering about its durability... Did you ever get hit in the lens?

@johneymute Consider this analogy. You take three pictures in three seconds of someone running. Those three pictures can be called an animation (at 1htz). If you copy those into 6 frames and watch it at "double speed", then your 1htz animation is now 2htz, and watching it at 2 htz will show you two copies of the same image every second. It doesn't recreate what happened in the 1 second between each still. Thus it is the same as watching it at 30 htz but less efficient. Does that make sense?

@johneymute Not to sound like a dick but that would be pointless. The whole point of recording at 60 fps is to capture that much more image data. This is captured as raster data, remember (think photograph). It's not vectors, so it's not like your video software will be able to accurately interpolate between frames like vector animation can.

i was thinking setting the camera in 30fps will save alot of space,and if they want to crunk it up to 60fps,they can upload it on pc and use software wich creates new frames from existing framesand then store and watch it as 60hz.

Tim From airsoft Gi is the one killing you guys from a second story window, you guys are in the ASGI video of Irene.
We get hit all the time but to say it is in the lens, I could not 100% confirm. One thing is sure; out of the 5 cameras we are running (all contourHD), none of them got the lens broken.
I might buy a spare lens or two for backup though.
Actually, since are talking about spares, the main problem I have is to open and close the cover in the back. THAT is probably the first thing that will fail in the long run.

Well maybe but why having to go through that whole process when using 60hz would simply required more batteries and/or SD cards?
It is much better to swap them up than having to edit more and more, and more.... XD

Rich, yeh I noticed your videos. Would have been being able to combine our footage but that would become a nightmare to edit and move around :D

Blade, are you running two formats/types of cameras?

@321Airsoft
EvilHead, yes, We actually had one old camera with us (Hillslam). Otherwise, I think they were all set at 720P 30fps (ContourHD 1080P). I had the swicthes set for 60fps (high switch) or 30fps (low switch) but if my memory serve me well, we ran all weeekend at 30fps. Why ? you noticed a difference?

@teamstrikersairsoft Yeah, the resolution and aspect ratio is different.

@321Airsoft
doopppss, I just checked my cameras :D
Camera 2 and 3 were set on 30fps. Camera 1 and 4 were on 60fps. Camera 5 was on 30fps old style (Hillslam)...Funny, I did not even see a difference outside Cam5...
I guess I still have a lot to learn and see ;)
