After You've Gone - Gunhild Carling Big Band 2007
Eldest Carling son Max is featured on clarinet in "After you've gone"
This was recorded at the Dresden Jazz Festival in May 2007.
From my very first postings of the Carlings in the mid eighties I remember Max already to be a red hot reedplayer. Now, more than 20 years later Max is at the height of his music career and his technique, his expressive playing together with his excitement brings this tune to a climax not often seen or heard. I'm certain that Max was inspired with the large youthful crowds who came to see the band here in Dresden. At jazzfestivals these young musicians have often to perform for audiences that are at least a generation older. Here the hall was filled with young swing dancers and lindy hoppers. Way to go Max!
