Crew Muster Drill on Mariner of the Seas

Taken from deck four on 18 November, 2009 in Mazatlán, México. Indoor Friedland alarm bells can be seen and heard along with strobes. I then move outdoors to hear the ship's horn, PA, and air horns.

Good observation. The air horns and remote bells always seem to activate before the PA tone.

I love those alarms! It's so cool at the end how after the alarm stops you can still hear the air horns.

you can see the airhorns only when standing outside on deck 12 or 13. They sound and look like a air horn used in sports, however they are way louder. I found 10 of them on the Mariner of the Seas, 1 behind each of the crown and anchor logos on each side of the funnel, 1 is by a security camera above the front of the viking crown lounge, 3 are above the ships whistle, 1 is above the rock climbing wall and 2 are on the rear mast above the mini golf course.

Upon closer inspection... the exterior horns along the outer promenade are not air horns at all. They are actually electronic signaling devices... they are not powered by air.

The alarm model used on voyager class ships appears to be the Yodalarm Y08 Super.

@whelenvortexr4 I agree with the wheelock mts but code 3 cannot be used on a ship because it doesn't mean anything at sea. 7 short 1 long is the international emergency signal for ships.

@sergeant655 It seems to be at the captain's discretion how many times the pattern is repeated. On Explorer one of the captains would only sound it once and one would sound it twice. Then at least one time the captain kept his finger on the switch for an extra "half-short" blast at the end, so he sounded it again just to avoid confusion haha.

the alarm tone on the independence of the seas (IOS) has the same delay. When i was on the IOS the signal sounded through the 7 short 1 long pattren twice. Ios has klaxons inside instead of the bells.
