  • How do you get the pegs to move?

  • The tines are held in place by friction, you just slide them. Some kalimba designs result in tines that slide more easily than others.

  • Mark,

Could you use a guitar tuner that you plug into on a Kalimba with a pickup so it would be digital?

  • Yes you can.

  • What type of electric tuner are you using?

  • That is a Korg chromatic tuner that is not made anymore - after 12 years of service, it finally died. Go to a guitar chop and ask for a korg chromatic tuner - $20- $25 -Mark

  • Donde consigo los flejes de metal????

  • This was helpful as I just got a Kalimba shipped to me which was brutally out of tune. Thank you.

  • Africa, the song by the band Toto:

"On 'Africa' you hear a combination of marimba with GS 1. The kalimba is all done with the GS 1; it's six tracks of GS 1 playing different rhythms. I wrote the song on CS-80, so that plays the main part of the entire tune."

So, the sound is in the song, but the actual instrument is not.

  • isn't this instrument played in africa from toto?
