In 1978 Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the movie, came out, featuring a totally forgettable story about some greedy media moguls and a quintessentially American town called Heartland. What set it apart was that it was held together my a plethora of Beatles hits, performed by everyone from Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees, to Billy Preston, to Aerosmith to Earth, Wind and Fire. The sound track and quality were amazing and made you forget the silly frothy story.
One of the highlights of the film at the end was to recreate the famous album cover from Sgt. Pepper. By my count there are 169 celebs in this group, or 172 if you count Frampton and the Bee Gees at the front, everyone from Sha Na Na to Carol Channing to Jonny Winter to Dame Edna Everidge. See how many you can spot in this two minute or so clip.
