I used to have a rule of never keeping more than 5 tools on my bench at one time
broke that rule real fast ;)

Very interesting. However, once those hooks get hot enough, they will melt and bend and stop functioning as well. I think the real problem here is the heat. Have you considered removing the torch from the situation? I believe without heat, the work bench will function much more efficiently.

you know, aim kilns engineers (in this case I think I use the term very lightly, as in they did no real engineering by our standards.) used magnets to hold the lower bead and rod door open, what they did not fully consider is that natural magents loose their magnetism as the heat of their surrounding increases, as in, by the time my kiln is at full soak temp, the door will no longer be held open by the magnet that has gotten hot enough to not be as magnetic. see, planning is important.-)
