Great tribute guitar solo to B.B. King by Robert Lee Coleman of Macon, Georgia and a member of "Fred Wesley and The New JB's" 1970-1972. He is still alive and kicking the blues for real.
@SlikkTim I don't think B. B. is much good at funky stuff. Where Mr. Brown could sing the blues and sound like he was a blues singer, Mr. King seemed out of his element when he tried to play a solo on a funky song, as her did when he was on stage with Mr. Brown playing 'Jam' in 1983 at the Beverly Theater in California. You can find it on Youtube I think.
@PaulDA2000 Haha guess everybody can talk shit, my bad. I ain't no BB King specialist and I thought it sounded similar. I'd like to hear BB King playin to some funky stuff though, I mostly heard him do the shuffle thing.
@SlikkTim - As a big James Brown fan I have to laugh that you thought that 2nd rate guitar player was B. B. King! B. B., on his worse day was 10 times as good as Coleman on his best day. Coleman was not really a top notch guitar player, not up to the usual standards of a James Brown sideman.
Ahh Thank U so much Hical!! I was doing sum research on soul hits from my birth year, and come across this. Always LOVED JB! My father had ALL of his records. I remember puttin all of the JB 45's in order so I could see the changes in his looks, kinda like a flash book! LOL And I just learned sumthin new,( I Love when that happens!) there's an R&B dance record that came out recently called "Ga-Ga-Ga" and I always wondered where I heard that b4! It came from this song! Thanx again Happy Holidays
Make It Funky is my fav JB track... thanks for postin this. As a huge Grant Green fan hearing BB King do the funky guitar playing thing is delightful. The lick from 2:00 to 2:03 is one of the funkyest thing I ever heard.
the ONLY song out of 800 albums to have a part 4 !

@PaulDA2000 Agree about Coleman. He probably did his best playing a very simplistic riff. Anything else was out of his wheelhouse.

That guitar player is not BB King, it is Coleman playing some BB.
