Yes, Dolly, but I guess we are nitpicking over semantics. When I think of the words "best" or "greatest", it doesn't necessarily mean people I like. It means people who have the characteristics of greatness. A good example is Dolly Parton. I am not at all fond of her voice or her music. But I do agree that she is one of the greatest female country singers ever, because of her body of work and her longevity. Does she have the vocal purity or range of Martina? No, but her impact can't be denied.

I'm still laughing at your picks. You've got to be kidding me! You have NO idea what a country singer is.

Reba is and always will be No. 1.
Can't believe you put these teen pop stars in the same class as country music legends.

A fairly good list. There are a few I think maybe you didn't think about, Martina McBride vocally is one of the best singers ever. A lot of people have left out one of the most angelic voices of all-Emmy Lou Harris. I would put them in there instead of the youngsters you have in there, mainly because they have had staying power.

Patsy and Loretta helped establish the genre. Dolly honors them by maintaining her country roots and twang while she rakes in the crossover bucks. Carrie and Jennifer are the new generation and damn good too ...
