Windows 7 (or any Microsoft windows OS for that matter) and its pre-installed video player- Windows Media Player 12 does not recognise the true orientation of clips taken from iOS devices. (This could be true for android phones as well, but I personally didnt check, so please comment below)
However youtube does job cleverly and corrects the orientation.
On side note: Youtube also allows you to watch videos on your mobile device in portrait mode if the video clip is originally recorded in portrait (vertical orientation) mode.
