SpavnOvHel, in this case your assumption is wrong. The lyrics are indeed from Kalevala, making much more sense than Kalevipoeg when considering the music. :)

This being an Estonian composition, I wonder if it was not actually based on the Kalevipoeg, the Estonian counterpart to the Kalevala.

Iron is cursed in this piece because from it, men were able to make weapons of war. Though the piece is written in Estonian, the legend of the text is from the Kalevala, the national saga of Finland.
