they are a group and just VW is the major shareholder in the group for 12% more percentage than Audi....

engine development and research is doing by Audi and the production of the engines done from VW...

In siple words Audi gives the technological info and patent to VW and they produce it.

Find which of those two used FSI and TFSI engines first and for long time...AUDI ^^

An all-new engine designed by AUDI AGs high performance subsidiary quattro GmbH, harking back to the original turbocharged five cylinder Audi engines in the "Ur-" Audi Quattro of the 1980s. A world first for a petrol engine, its cylinder block is constructed from compacted vermicular graphite cast iron (GJV/CGI) - first used in Audis large displacement, high performance Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engines.

@panoulhs007007 no I'm not jealous.. I have a 2009 VW TDI.. VW owns Audi. I was told the TT-RS had a tweaked out 5 cylinder 2.5L engine in it, same as the VW Jetta, but it has Direct Injection and a bigger Turbo.
