Sonic 3 & Knuckles Boss Run - Part 1

Good lord, I'm not sure why im recording so many of these recently... oh well.

The run is recorded as Sonic, because.. well.. he's the quickest. At beating bosses anyway. And I use the optimal shields for the quickest times.
No cheats*, hacks, etc. And no bloody Super Sonic.

* Except debug mode to access the alternate boss, see below.

Couple of notes:
0) I use the Bonus Stage to "select" the optimal Shield. Or in the case of Launch Base's sub-boss... remove the shield.
1) The Marble Garden Boss really cannot be defeated during the first portion of the battle. Sonic either falls through him or the one time I DID defeat him.... I couldn't complete the stage. :/
2) The "Alternate" Marble Garden boss was accessed using debug mode. Yes it appears in Sonic 3. Yes they planned to include Knuckles as playable in Sonic 3. And yeah the Sonic and Knuckles boss music appears in Sonic 3 as well :P
3) I have no idea what happened to the Launch Base boss. Clearly they did not test the game properly.
4) Yeah. I don't get the Emeralds. I don't want to become Super Sonic. And I need high ring levels to access the bonus stages. Nuff said. This is a boss run, not a game run.

Two things are clear from this run - the Lightning shield is a boss killer, and Sonic's sub-spin during his jump is the best thing Sega added to the game. :P

Technically this is a Sonic 3 boss run.
I wanted to mix the music up a bit, plus it gives me access to the Sonic 3 final boss.

The rest of the bosses (a.k.a Sonic and Knuckles) coming soon! Please ignore the two weeks thing. Knowing my concentrationg level, it'll probably be the next few days... XD

funny when i played a demo for this on pc it didn't use the actual sounds. it sounded like midi versions of actual music (don't know if it maters but it was a long time ago when i played the demo)

@samushunter242 Yep, it sure did. The PC version used Midis due to hardware and space limitations at the time.

It also replaced the music for Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base, as well as the Sonic 3 versions of the Knuckles theme, the Mini-Boss theme, and the credits music.

I assume this was because they had a hard time replicating the original tracks with midi.

Or according to some people it has something to do with them being Michael Jackson's songs. *shrug*

@struggle75 Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are really 2 games. The "final" boss at Sonic 3 is the final boss if u play the game by itself. If you combine the 2 games and play through the game the final boss from Launch Base won't appear and then later on you fight the real final boss in Death Egg, which is both the final boss playing S&K by itself and when the 2 games are combined.

The Marble Garden boss offically made Tails badass. Sonic would have died without him... Best buddy anyone could ask for.

I hate having the emeralds with Sonic, makes it harder to use his kick-ass Insta-Shield due to all the rings you get in this game.

Sonic 3 is one my honorable game than first two games for it. Its classic. Hopefully remakes 3d and 2d

Anyone who has had to beat the abysmal Carnival Night (act 2) boss as Tails, unable to use the insta-shield, ligntning shield (to double-jump), or Super Tails has my deepest symphaties.

The Boss Run as Tails is suprisingly tough. Espsically Marble Garden.
