Green techniques are being used in urban areas to reduce the effects of stormwater runoff on the quality of downstream receiving waters. The goal is to mimic the natural way water moved before development, using design techniques to infiltrate, evaporate, and reuse runoff close to its source.

  • @thumper444 No. You wan't water to be filtered through wetland plants (ideally) because they will break down most pollutants over time. Non-permeable surfaces also redirect water away from agriculture and green areas exacerbating drought. Additionally, large non-permeable surfaces like parking lots support virtually no wildlife where a well designed rain garden can support literally hundreds and hundreds of species in the same area.

  • i think in some places you need runoff to help dilute the pollution

  • Fantastic video!
