3月11日に発生しました東北地区の大地震をうけまして、山鹿灯籠浪漫･百華百彩の開催は自粛されました。3月14日～17日,18日、19日、25日、26日の開催も中­止されました。

2010 Romance of the Lantern Festival was finished early on Saturday, March 12th instead of lasting until March 26th as its original plan and schedule due to the disastrous earthquake and tsunami on Friday, March 11th, 2011.

平成２３年度山鹿灯籠浪漫・百華百彩は３月１２日の九州新幹線全線開業に合わせて２月４日（金）から３月１２日（土）まで毎週金・土曜日の夕方６時頃から１０時頃まで開催­されました。

2010 Romance of the Lantern Festival was held every Friday and Saturday started from about 6 to 10pm from February 4th to March 12th to celebrate opening of the Kyūshū Shinkansen, a high-speed railway line between the Japanese cities of Fukuoka and Kagoshima, on Kyūshū Island on March 12th, 2011.

九州６県で取り組む「冬の九州・灯りの祭典」の一環として開催された百華百彩は、今年で９回目でした。幻想的な雰囲気に心打たれ、誰もがタイムスリップしてしまったかのよ­うな気持ちにさせられる、そんなレトロな街並みが体験できました。夕方６時頃からオブジェに灯りを点すと、ほのかなロウソクの灯りがゆらりゆらりと、あたたかい山鹿を演出­しました。優しい灯りに引き寄せられると、そこは八千代座。午後８時３０分からは、山鹿太鼓と山鹿灯籠踊りの共演が始まりました。幻想的な雰囲気の中での勇壮な太鼓と優美­な灯籠踊りでした。

This 9th Annual Romance of the Lantern Festival was one of the Japanese Winter Lantern Festivals at 6 Prefectures on Kyūshū Island. An event that lighted up the Yamaga winter. A variety of sculptures and figures made of bamboo and Japanese umbrellas were erected and illuminated along the streets of the city, creating a beautiful, dream-like world. At the Yachiyo-za Theater, a recap of the "Taste of Yamaga Story" with paper-lantern dancing and drum performances was held from 8:30pm.

We live on this beautiful planet, Mother Earth, breathe the same air, and drink the same water. We are all brothers and sisters and members of the human family.

Life is a precious gift to enjoy, celebrate, and appreciate! Life is a choice, and we need to choose to be happy! We make things happen by wishing them! Ask, Believe, then Receive! Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated! Thank you!

とても綺麗で素敵なイベントです。まるで時代劇を思わせる歴史の­­ある町並みをゆっくりと見て回るにも良い場所です。­昔ながら­の素敵なお店もあります。私の特にお気に入りのお店は昔­ながら­の着物レンタルのある和雑貨店の柏屋藤右衛門さんで、­私も以前­ここで着物をレンタルして人力車に乗りました。皆さんと­ても親­切で素敵で温かいお店です。素敵な品物が沢山あるので、­お土産­を買うのにも丁度良いです。山鹿を訪れたら一度訪れてみて­下さ­い。国指定重要文化財の八千代座と山鹿灯籠民芸館も必見で­す。­山鹿は温泉町で、山鹿温泉として知られています。山鹿温泉の­歴­史は800年以上と古く、山中で鹿が湯浴みしている場を発見し­­たことから、「山鹿」の地名の由来でもあります。有名な山鹿温泉­に浸かっていって下さい。良質の温泉水でお肌がツル­ツルになり­ますよ。Romance of the Lantern Festival is a wonderful event to walk around surrounded by historical buildings in hot springs resort old town!!
