Mustard Plug guitarist and sometimes vocalist Colin Clive formed this band as a side project away from Mustard Plug. Clive's intent with Parkhurst was to do something other than the ska/punk which MP was known for and to get back to his roots - drawing from the likes of Husker Du, Naked Raygun and Pegboy. The band also features former Mustard Plug saxophonist/bassit Craig DeYoung on guitar.
Playing mainly around the Grand Rapids area under the name Moniker, the band opened some pretty big club shows around town before finally going on hiatus in the mid '00's. Clive has stated on the band's MySpage page that they will be returning again, though exactly when is anybody's guess.
I think this band is great and I really dig the one self-titled disc which they released independently in 2003. I really do wish they would record more stuff - i'd be happy to lend a hand on drums if they need me.
"Weak Ends" is taken from the only disc Parkhurst have ever recorded.
