A multi-video tribute to all my favorite classic video games!

Title: River City Ransom
Developer: Technos Japan
Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System
Year: 1990
Description: River City Ransom, released as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari in Japan is a video game for the NES from the now defunct Technos Japan Corporation, originally released in 1989. It was one of the first console games published by North American subsidiary, American Technos.

In the Western version, the plot follows high school students Alex and Ryan as they cross River City in an attempt to rescue River City High and Ryan's girlfriend Cyndi from the clutches of a villain called "Slick". Along the way, they battle with gangs of students and several minibosses.

Song is: River City Rammstein by Mazedude.

Notes: The music is Mazedude's awesome cover of the boss battle tune. I don't think the video quite lives up to it. As always, I don't claim to be a pro at these games, just a life long fan.

  • @anubis311 Gauntlet Legends, Super Soccer, Battlezone, Armorines.... classics.... People don't make games like these anymore. :(

  • @madcap22 Just letting you know, you can also play it (or ANY NES game) on your computer, via a NES "Emulator". Nestopia is probably the best, since it not only faithfully reproduces original NES game play, graphics & sound, but has Kaillera Client support, for 2 player online gaming. All free of course.

  • Never played this but played the crap outa some double dragon.

  • my bro and i LOVED this game, we're hopin to find it on the Wii store, once we get it connected to the internet. my fondest memory was getting all the attack books....the internationals were the best gang to beat up for cash btw....

  • Thanks for sharing the video, but you left out the music from the game. That is one of the reasons so many people today have such fond memories of this game. Still good mix of video, next time, keep it OG.
