I do not believe that is our race, or our religion, our gender, our height, our looks, our job, our sexual orientation, or any other superficial characteristics that define us as human beings. Trumping all these by a country mile, it is our consciousness -- the most intimate, precious, sapient, unique and individual part of ourselves -- that is really the essence of who and what we are. Indeed, at the deepest level it is what we are -- to the extent that if we are not sovereign over our own consciousness then we cannot in any meaningful sense be sovereign over anything else either. For these and many other reasons I strongly oppose the "war on drugs" which, in my view, has created an engine of oppression and control in society by which the State claims the right, purportedly in our own interests, to regulate our very thoughts and inner experiences, and to trespass the sanctum of our consciousness.

I was recently interviewed by Cara Lavan of Knowdrugs.net on the subject of drugs, the drug war, personal freedom and cognitive liberty. The interview, which is embedded here, captures some of the key points that I feel have been neglected, and must be taken into account, if we are ever to get to grips with these issues in society.

  • Long Live Sir Graham Hancock! Guys in suits (politicans and goverments and organizations) should bend their knees and seat at your feat to listen what you are saying. So well explained are his words so truthful. This kind of thinking can and will prevail all stupidity that we are in now. The so called "war on drugs" have become a shield for kartels agenda - a cover up for their buisness. Its so obvious. This must be changed else we will all end soon in prison planet.

  • Totally agree. One of many reasons I'll be voting for Ron Paul. Time to end this war on drugs.

  • IMAGINE we are FREE ???? we are not free !!! we are controlled !!!!! its very sad !! I wish the people that ruled us treated us with kindness and love ..... I wish that these people would look after the planet with the technology that is good !!!

  • This becomes more of an ethical dilema than a legal dilema. As a user, I would prefer to have the option without the side effect of prison, but I also believe that we would see more theft and armed robberies of the carriers of these products. There would definitly be two sides of that coin.

  • @dimphil How do you know this? Addicts should be helped and people should be educated to understand what drugs do to your body. I'm sure if people were properly educated then we wouldn't see half the amount of addicts around today.

  • thank you graham :)

  • He has never seen a Heroin addict. Or opiate addict.

  • Drugs need to be legal

  • I love the we you are able to express yourself. No doubt in your worlds, no fear. No pushing and no hesitating. Very powerful comunicator, thanks for opening our eyes in so many ways and being able to follow your journey.

A question, is ayahuasca on amazon the real one?

  • @dominicjan Gee I don't know. He's a 59 year old Brit that has travelled the world as a researcher - ya think maybe he might have seen one or two? What a buffonish question you ask. We've all seen them. So what? Because heroin addicts exist, you feel someone else should make personal decisions for you? Maybe you like it, but many of us don't

  • Graham Hancock for president!

  • @CrabPeople420 no i wouldnt. it is sufficient to me, that ive read a book written by a heroine addict and ive seen them in real. scarry stuff, it should be illegal by all means. but im all for visionary drugs like peyotl, ibogaine and others, non addictive drugs, wich you cant easily get.. btw...
