  • I appreciate your input. I bet 99% of the world feels the same. I have had the ST70 and presently have an acrosound stereo 120 as one of my El34 based amps. With my Altec model 14's hooked up to this amp it will give your system a run. El84 is just a better sounding tube. You just need more efficient speakers. We could go at it back and forth but the bottom line in audio is if yuou like it that is all that matters. BTW ST70's were selling for $3-400 at the latest Kutztown radio show. Great buys

  • $1000 bucks for a portable tube player? dream on.

  • Not dreaming I'm living. If you heard my Dells record on this unit with extension speakers at a party you may think differently. Can you imagine?

  • This is a very high quality unit. Pilot made higher-end stereo tube amps & receivers and often matched their amps with the mid high quality Garrard 210 turntable like this one. What phono cartridge is on this Garrard? They were often matched with the magnetic SHURE M3D or M7D. Real nice one!

  • the amp seems like a mini SA-232 with

something similar to a SP-210 pre...with TFK and Mullard tubes, it doesnt seem that out of touch, considering the condition of the unit.

  • I have an all tube audible illusions pre amp playing through a Dynaco ST70 with vintage Mullards. This system cost me under $1000 and I guarantee it kicks ass on your little antique record player.

I'm not saying your system doesn't sound awesome. I'm just being realistic. I highly doubt anyone is willing to pay $1000 for a portable tube player.
