Keira Knightley as Anna Karenina.

British actress Keira Knightley has signed to star in the new adaptation of Tolstoy's classic "Anna Karenina". The film will be directed by Joe Wright. This is the third time that Joe Wright has Knightley in his cast and their fifth collaboration including TV campaign spots.
Filming will begin next Autumn.

I love Keira, but I just don't see her in this role. I know the director is partial to her, but she's not subtle enough to really do it justice. I also don't see Aaron Johnston as Vronsky. It seems more like a high school summer fling than Anna Karenina.

@MisSsGardneR no doubt M.Belucci but also Isabelle Adjani... thats the type of character you talk about... to choose Keira Knightley for this is imo equal to picking Emma Watson.

I also hated her as Elisabeth in Pride and prejudice... she is too shallow for such, Elisabeth's stubbornness stems from deep integrity not otherwise lol she would do well as Lydia Bennett thou... as Anna fluctuates emotionally bc she has strong passion not otherwise you cant get passion from a butterfly
