KETC | Living St. Louis | Locomotive

From KETC, LIVING ST. LOUIS Producer Jim Kirchherr recalls a 2000 trip from St. Louis to Hannibal, Missouri, aboard the Frisco 1522, a steam locomotive built in 1926 and retired in the 1950s. After sitting at the Museum of Transportation for years, the Frisco 1522 was restored and brought back to working shape by the St. Louis Steam Train Association, a volunteer team of engineers and enthusiasts. The trip to Hannibal brought steam engine fans from across the nation to St. Louis to both ride the train and to follow along in cars on highway 79 as chasers for the great views of the Frisco 1522 in action.

Those were radio earphones...not ear protection...they were necessary to communicate with the dispatcher on the rail lines they run on.

Geeze dickweed, we DO NOT need commetns like that. The best thing to happen is for it to return to operation. BTW, that may not happen for many years to come. Worst off, it may never return to the rails where it belongs.

Right you are it is in a museum, but the cost of maintaining the display and shelter are mounting and the old junker is in jeopardy of being scrapped out.

It is just too expensive to keep any longer.

I have my torch ready to cut this pot metal apart!
