On this one we have a fundamental difference of opinion. I don't feel it's the role of government to make things fair for people. The role of government is to take as little money from people as possible to fund the very basic roles of government. It's none of the government business if someone has more money than someone else. Assuming of course the oney was attained legally and ethically. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil, not money by itself.

this dude has that scart "clinic bomber" look on his face. As to the actual question he raises, well, how much IS enough? I'd say "enough" would be when poverty has been eliminated in this country. NOT to say, necessarily, we need to spend more, but so long as poverty is still a reality in this country, whatever has been done is not enough.

The problem with poverty has NEVER been that we don't give the poor enough handouts. If anything we give me too much, and as a result they become reliant on those handouts. If the government gives a kid in the getto money for having a child out of wedlock who lives without the father far too many kids will start having those kids so they can have their own place and a consistent check in the mail. Sounds harsh, but history has proven this true time and time again.

Sorry about the 'scart' look on my face, I have worked to improve that part of the presentation.
As far as spending as much as it takes; if we were to give the poor say $100,000.00/yr. each from the few billionares that actually exist that would easily be enough to end their poverty. It would also eliminate their drive to find a job and try to cope with the day to day challenges ALL of us face.
How about holding people accountable for the choices they make that create poverty.
