Bluegrass on Broad- Savannah & Fall Creek Band

The 2008 "Bluegrass on Broad" downtown concert series was opened on 5/9/08 by The Fall Creek Band. This band showcases the talented 14 year old fiddling and singing prodigy Savannah Vaughn. In addition to Savannah, the band includes Audie Ratliff (mandolin and vocals), Janice McCombs (bass and vocals), and Ron Vaughn (guitar and father). This clip includes "Train, Train" and "City of New Orleans".

Just saw you on Song of the Mountain.  Great show - except that Savanah seems to have lost her beautiful smile. When was this shot?

@MrShurshot Savannah was a very sick young lady in the week proceeding the taping (sometime in October 2009). Her dad (Ron, on the guitar) told me that she was unable to speak for three days just before the taping performance. She really did a great performance considering the sore throat and medication. I suspect it was a really tough ordeal to get through the set. Jim

I've heard savannah several times singing and playing fiddle in jam sessions, she has a keen sense of timing and a good ear for music, i have to say out of all the fiddlers i've ever heard she is a pleasure to just listen to and thats saying a lot from an old jaded musician like me! If you ever get to see fall creek band perform, it will be worth your time and the wait, you won't be disappointed.

Savanah's health issues during the Song of the Mountains performance certainly explains her lack of smiling. I greatly admire her spunk and determination. Hope to see her (you) soon on the telly. Jack
