Sorry for the bad quality. This was pretty much an excuse to use my new video camera ;w; I was finally allowed to get one~~
Pardon my voice. I'm recovering from the numbness I got from the dentist trip.
I used Speedball sketch with Higgins ink.
So here're some tips for using dip pens:
Frequently wipe your tips and wash them. You'll get this yucky residue if you don't and it'll affect your inking abilities in addition to looking disgusting.
Don't draw with your wrist, since you'll get awkward lines/un-smooth lines. Instead, move the pen around with your arm [great exercise haha]
Don't use if you press hard when you draw! Eg I write really hard so many times I had the pen sputtering and bleeding when I just started D: Wasn't a pretty sight.
Lefties can use dip pens! I personally didn't feel a difference when I used my left hand to draw...
Don't dip the ink too far in the ink well. You'll get ink all over your hand and your picture in addition to ink flying everywhere when you take out the nib.
Practice a lot... It takes ages to get used to. As mentioned in the video, it took me about 3 months [actually 2 since I didn't get to draw for about a month]. D: Some people actually told me it was a pretty short time compared to others... ;w; I thought it was a long time since I got used to all the other types of inking pens right away
Get used to nibs one at a time. Start with the harder nibs and work your way down to the softer ones.
Keep your pen at 45°-ish angle. Too low will make the ink flow choppy and too high will make it difficult to draw.
Choose smooth, strong paper for starters. If you have bad quality paper, bits of paper will get stuck in your pennib and it'll be really hard to get out ._.' And smoother paper is easier to draw on. I recommend Premiere.
i use fountain pen ink with that exact pen set,is that ok?
