1970 was the last year of the cigarette commercials. This is only of the last of those ads, for Pall Mall (pronounced Pell Mell) cigarettes. It's longer, get milderrrrrr! In menthol too!

  • i always thought it was pronounced PaWL MaWL

  • @paxmule I was once told that it takes 7 years for the crave to finally die. I'm 8 years clean and I think tht it's the truth. But it is a nightmare. My kicking the scag was akin to Trainspotting. Sweating, chills, anxiety, tension. The one thing that did not happen was the weight gain. I don't know why, but I guess the Lord took pity. Going off nicotine was pure hell and I will not preach to those who still use. But I will wish them luck in going off the gear. It's hard.

  • the monkey NEVER dies.

  • lol ... I just got to know how the name of the brand is actually pronounced after smoking for a year ..

  • Jesus my mom smoked the unfiltered ones in the 50s!

  • Ive heard heroin addicts say quitting cigarettes was harder than quitting the heroin itself.

  • arkady714 I just quit a month ago. I was never a heavy smoker but I have to say it's one of the hardest things i've ever had to do.

  • Kicking nicotine is a nightmare. Kudos to whoever can pull it off successfully. 20 years of beig a pack-a-day Marlboro smoker and I'm now almost eight years clean. But what you hear really is true. It does take a full seven years for the craving to fully leave, Best of luck to anyone trying to quit the scag. It ain't easy.

  • beautiful

  • Odd how ALL these old ciggie ads use the word "longer" over and over again.

Didn't ANY one catch on to this sort of advertising back then ?

    Apparently not.

    *sigh*
