@tammybpatterson Actually, while the bible does explain their being in Bethlehem by saying there was a census (which may be because prophecy foretold that it'd happen in Bethlehem, but Jesus was from Nazareth and they wanted to squidge the facts to fit the prophecy), there is no record of such a census taking place in Roman documents. At all. Ever.
Doesn't it seem a bit odd that they'd want the people to return to their birthplace for the census, and not record their current location?

@drtoonie Jesus was conceived on December 25 he was born on September 29 Luke 1:5 begins to document the timeline with Zacharias serving out his priest duties. Luke 1:26 documents that at the time Mary visits Elisabeth, Elisabeth is six month preg. with John. another time line is, when Jesus is born it is cold, and shepherds don't herd in winter. they do herd in the fall. oh, and also, His birth was during the census which is at the end of september.hope this was helpful.

@anAHDAMofYAH Names & Titles are given by man & God for relationship reasons You will not find the earliest name given to God it has been lost. The true pronunciation of the name "Yahuwah" has also been lost and the way we pronounce it today is how we think it was pronounced. But my point is this. God is God whatever you call Him. His name doesn't make Him any more Holy nor can a name reduce His glory. The bible says not to blaspheme but that is because it is wrong to MISUSE Gods name

@anAHDAMofYAH Jesus is the Savior of the sins of those who repent. He is God... God is known by many names showing that His name is not who He is but merely titles given to describe His attributes. So what's more important? Knowing His name or knowing Him. Thinking about this deeply and logically we see God is eternal. no one gave birth to Him therefore no one gave Him His name from birth since God is eternal. Any names He has were created by Him to describe Himself & by people.

@fickkyboy We have a Savior, Who was Born of a Virgin. The Covenant NAME of our Creator is Remembered on the Feast of Dedication. The name JESUS with its spelling is only 400 years old. YAH is a NAME that Became YAHUWAH, who is our LIGHT of lights, who's NAME gives us OIL enough to last us 8 days, (8 thousand years) until we come to our Infinity Number in him 888. HalleluYAH. Do you want us to Observe a 400 year name or an 8 thousand year old NAME?

@drtoonie All true. Nevertheless we celebrate His birth on the 25th. That's what it is about today. And you are certainly right Jesus wasn't born on Christmas day but because we don't know when It doesn't really matter. Do you know what pagan festival it replaced? I would be interested to know.
p.s. Most Christians know Jesus wasn't born on Christmas and we don't deny that. Most also know it replaced a pagan festival which we also don't deny. It is historically setonthe25thsowedoitthen

But Jesus wasn't born on Christmas! The bible and related texts didn't record the date, and all we can say with any confidence was that whatever day he was born, the weather was mild enough that shepherds were grazing their flocks in the evening, making four days after the winter solstice unlikely (though not impossible). The reason we celebrate it on the 25th was because they thought it'd be easier to get converts if they took the date of a pagan feast and tacked Jesus' name on it.
